Student Safety and Wellbeing Policy

1. Purpose

1.1. This policy states the principles related to student safety and wellbeing at Adelaide University.

2. Scope

2.1. This policy applies to all Adelaide University students.

3. Policy principles

3.1. Adelaide University is committed to student safety and wellbeing and to providing a safe and inclusive environment for students.

3.2. Adelaide University will undertake reporting and uphold confidentiality requirements in accordance with relevant Commonwealth and State legislation.

3.3. Safety and wellbeing are an individual and shared responsibility of both students and staff.

3.4. Adelaide University will provide clear, accessible, culturally and linguistically appropriate resources and assistance to support student safety and wellbeing. This includes:

3.4.1. Staff and student training and guidance on safety and wellbeing.

3.4.2. Steps to take if personal safety or wellbeing is compromised.

3.4.3. Timely and sensitive student incident management.

3.5. Adelaide University will make every effort to mitigate risks and minimise hazards, including psychosocial hazards.

3.6. Adelaide University will provide commencing students with resources to assist their transition to university life, including academic requirements. International students will be supported in transitioning to living and studying in Australia.
