Student accommodation

Provided exclusively for students, student accommodation offers a supportive environment designed to help you transition smoothly into university life. With convenient locations, fully furnished rooms, inclusive fees, and a built-in community of like-minded students, you'll have all the support you need for your academic journey.

These options include:

  • University managed student accommodation

  • Purpose built student accommodation

  • Residential colleges .

Visit the Student accommodation webpage to learn more.

Private rental accommodation

Private rental accommodation refers to domestic residential properties available to rent, or individual bedrooms in established households offered as share accommodation. This option provides flexibility and independence, allowing you to choose a living arrangement that fits your lifestyle.

Homestay accommodation

Homestays involve living with a local family, couple or individual in their home. You’ll have your own bedroom, and your host will provide meals and pastoral care, offering a supportive and immersive cultural experience.

Visit the Other accommodation webpage to find out more about private rental and homestay accommodation.

International students under 18 years

If you are an international student under 18 years of age and will not be living with a parent, legal guardian or a nominated eligible relative, you must obtain university approval for your accommodation and welfare arrangements. This involves applying to and accepting a residence approved by Adelaide University for the duration of time you are under 18. To find out more, email accommodation@study.adelaideuni.edu.au.

Accommodation support and services

Accommodation assistance for domestic students

Adelaide University offers a range of assistance-based programs to support domestic students who are relocating for study.

Additionally, the Australian Government offers a variety of financial assistance programs to support students to access higher education. For more information and eligibility criteria, please refer to the Service Australia website.

The Subsidised Accommodation Program is designed to provide affordable accommodation options for domestic students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, including Aboriginal students.

We understand that the transition into university life can be daunting for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, and that the first accommodation choice will play an important role in establishing a solid foundation for academic success.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are encouraged to work with the Accommodation Service to learn more about the accommodation options. Our specialists can also assist to help students identify and secure accommodation that meets particular needs and budget.

For more information on how to access this program, please contact the Accommodation Service.

Students can book an airport pickup service from Adelaide Airport to their nominated accommodation destination.
