Entry requirements

Admission criteria

Applicants must hold:

  • a completed Bachelor degree, OR
  • a completed Diploma (from either a University or TAFE), OR
  • a recognised industry-based qualification, OR
  • at least 2 years professional experience holding a responsible position in a field of practice or discipline.

A comprehensive CV should be uploaded as part of the application for those applicants without a completed qualification (Bachelor, Diploma or industry based).

English language entry requirements

In addition, international students who speak English as an additional language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission. Possession of one or more of these qualifications, in addition to the academic entry requirements, does not, in itself, guarantee a place at Adelaide University. Applications are considered on an individual basis and selection is competitive. Where previous study/work experience was conducted in English, the application must be accompanied by certified documentation from the educational institution/employer certifying that the language of instruction/employment was English.

Why Professional Certificate in Space Law?

Overview

Space law is an emerging area for exploration, science, innovation and business. The Professional Certificate in Space Law prepares students for the regulatory and policy challenges in that future. Students will learn how to apply principles of space law to solve legal problems and critique the law from ethical and practical perspectives.

The Professional Certificate in Space Law is a non-AQF program. This program has a standard full-time duration of 0.25 years however can only be taken part-time for a duration of 0.5 years.

Our Professional Certificate in Space Law provides up-to-the-minute legal insight for anyone conducting, planning or advising on enterprise and security in ‘the final frontier’.

What you'll learn

By completing the Professional Certificate in Space Law, you will be able to:

  • Apply legal knowledge in a principled manner within the field of space law, using advanced research skills to interrogate primary and secondary sources.
  • Analyse and apply principles of space law to solve complex legal problems, while critiquing the law from ethical, cultural, and practical perspectives.
  • Structure and present concise, cohesive arguments in space law, tailored for both legal and non‑legal audiences, in written and spoken formats.
