program overview

Overview

Adelaide University’s Graduate Certificate in Education (Digital Learning) ensures that no teacher is left behind. Between virtual learning spaces and AI, the world is moving fast – and newer generations are moving with it. This program is designed to help educators keep up and to inspire them towards new and effective ways of teaching.

By embracing the digital world, educators can uncover powerful insights into the learning process. There is a growing body of data for how different students respond to different teaching methods. Tap into that knowledge. Refine your approaches. Tailor them to your students’ needs.

New advances, such as AI, are becoming as pervasive as calculators. Learn how to work with these technologies and how to make them work for you.

If you feel lost in the digital wilderness, this program can help you find your way. If you’re already comfortable with the latest tech tools, this program gives you the space to sharpen your techniques.

What you'll learn

Our Graduate Certificate in Education (Digital Learning) explores the world of digital learning from several key vantage points.

You’ll study courses in:

  • Learning analytics
  • Artificial intelligence in education and training
  • Innovative practices for learners in the digital age
  • Digital learning design and implementation.

Through your course in learning analytics, you’ll discover how to read and respond to learner data. Use these findings to evaluate established teaching methods. Harness this knowledge to improve and optimise your own approach. Develop data-driven techniques for engaging and supporting students.

AI is transforming education. Learn how it works and discover its functions, advantages and drawbacks. Grapple with big ethical questions. Be prepared for the challenges AI brings to the classroom.

Education has to keep pace with a rapidly evolving world. Familiarise yourself with new and innovative approaches to teaching, from flipped classrooms to personalised learning. Evaluate the impact of digital technology on learners. You’ll even explore the relationship between digital learning and social justice.

Finally, you’ll design a digital learning project to implement in your own teaching context. You’ll choose what form this takes, whether it’s a tool, activity or resource. Bring relevant digital learning technologies together to craft something entirely your own.

On completion of these four courses, you’ll be prepared to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the digital learning space.

Specialisations

The Graduate Certificate in Education (Digital Learning) does not provide a recognised qualification for teaching in schools. For this pathway, see our Master of Teaching, which has specialisations in:
