Entry requirements
Admission criteria
To be eligible, an applicant must have achieved at least one of the following minimum entry requirements and demonstrate they fulfil any prerequisite and essential criteria for admission. In cases where there are more eligible applicants than available places, admission will be competitive with ranks based on the entry criteria.
Secondary education (Year 12)
- Completion of a secondary education qualification equivalent to the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
- Completion of an award from a registered training organisation (RTO) at Certificate IV (AQF level 4) or higher.
Higher education study
Successful completion of at least 6 months full-time study (or equivalent part-time) in a higher education award program at undergraduate diploma (AQF level 5) or higher.
Work and life experience
- Completion of an Adelaide University approved enabling, pathway or bridging program; OR
- A competitive result in the Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT); OR
- Qualify for special entry

What you'll learn
The Bachelor of Biomedical and Health Sciences is an engaging and adaptable three-year program that encompasses human biology, health and disease. Covering a wide array of health and medical science disciplines, this degree gives you the skills and knowledge essential for success in today's dynamic health landscape.
As a biomedical and health sciences student, you will study core courses in health systems, research, anatomy and physiology. Emphasising cross-cultural and First Nations perspectives, the program ensures that you’ll graduate with a comprehensive global outlook on health and care. You will also develop crucial professional skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving and time management. With opportunities to choose up to two majors and complete a capstone research project, you’ll be well-prepared for a variety of diverse health-related careers.
Majoring in Biochemistry, you’ll build a vast knowledge base from simple molecules to whole organisms and explore the molecular cause of disease and how to develop life-saving therapies. You’ll also study a range of specialist topics including molecular and cellular biology, the molecular basis of cancer, and metabolism.
Throughout the program, you can enhance your expertise with elective courses or pursue a second major. There is no rush to decide immediately – you’ll have ample time to explore various areas of health and discover your passions.
