Course overview
In this course participants will continue development of knowledge, skills, attitudes and capabilities underpinning required day one skills in veterinary communication, legislation, professional conduct, ethics, and clinical examination in a variety of species using animal handling skills that ensure animal welfare and operator safety while maintaining a professional image.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate client communication skills using a predominantly relationship-centred consultation style.
- Construct effective written documents for a variety of work-related situations based on analysis of available information, with the application of professional conventions of writing.
- Define and evaluate conduct with regard to the veterinary surgeon's professional and legal responsibilities and apply the codes of conduct of the registering body of the state/country.
- Work effectively as a member of a team, identifying and respecting the roles played by others in the team.
- Conduct a systematic, thorough and efficient basic clinical examination in a variety of species using animal handling skills that ensure animal welfare and operator safety.
