Course overview
The aim of this course is to develop students' ability to critically analyse case management approaches to the delivery of human services and to plan and manage interventions from a case management perspective. Students will develop advanced knowledge of the definitions, characteristics and processes of case management, the influences on its historical development and practice models and critical issues and ethical dilemmas in case management. Students will use cognitive and analytic skills to develop their understanding of organisational, worker and professional perspectives, consumer and carer perspectives, the process of case management and the difference between case management and other service delivery approaches.

- Identify, describe and critique the characteristics of case management approaches to service delivery
- Analyse the responsibilities and priorities of workers in case management approaches
- Identify the impact of case management approaches on consumers
- Conceptualise an optimal case management practice model for effective service delivery within an agency context
- Critically analyse ethical dilemmas arising from case management approaches to the individualised delivery of human services
