Course overview
The aim of this course is to enable the student to acquire the knowledge and develop advanced skills required to perform non routine region specific practical procedures in musculoskeletal sonography. Gross anatomy and pathophysiology of the musculoskeletal structures that present in complex case of the shoulder, elbow, ankle and foot, hand and wrist, knee, hip, groin and buttock, upper arm, forearm, thigh, lower leg. Clinical signs and symptoms, diagnostic test results (including other imaging modalities) associated with complex pathophysiological conditions of the shoulder, elbow, ankle and foot, hand and wrist, knee, hip, groin and buttock.
Course learning outcomes
- Appraise a case which illustrates how sonography is used to diagnose a complex musculoskeletal condition.
- Evaluate sonographic images to identify normal and complex musculoskeletal pathology.
- Report on a diagnostic musculoskeletal clinical case that required advanced sonographic scanning skills, image interpretation and clinical reasoning.
