Course overview

The aim of this course is to provide students with advanced knowledge of cardiac diseases, including congenital heart disease and the downstream effect of these diseases.

Course learning outcomes

  • Describe the formation of common cardiac congenital lesions including shunt, stenotic, cyanotic and non-cyanotic lesions.
  • Explain and demonstrate in detail the echocardiographic appearance and assessment of common cardiac congenital lesions, pericardial and coronary artery diseases, and cardiac masses.
  • Explain and demonstrate the echocardiographic appearance and assessment of coronary artery disease including coronary artery distribution, myocardial infarction and the complications of myocardial infarction.
  • Demonstrate continual progression through supervised clinical training requirements.
