Course overview
The aim of this course is to develop the advanced knowledge and skills required to practice in the area of abdominal sonography with autonomy, well developed judgement, adaptability and responsibility.
Course learning outcomes
- Autonomously plan and describe the implementation of a sonographic examination of abdominal studies using advanced anatomy, physiology, embryology, pathophysiology, normal and abnormal sonographic appearances.
- Independently select appropriate sonographic examination methods to match the clinical setting and patient requirements in accordance with organisational procedures, professional standards and evidence-based practice.
- Modify or extend the abdominal sonographic examination based on an interpretation of sonographic images and clinical presentation.
- Accurately record an abdominal sonographic examination and clinical findings and effectively communicate those findings using appropriate terminology.
- Review relevant and professional ethical standards in abdominal sonography to deliver consistent., safe and patient focused services.
