Course overview

Building on foundations of working with people who have experienced trauma, this course will teach students advanced skills and approaches that are key competencies for counselling graduates as identified by industry and other stakeholders. The course will equip students to build on their understanding of trauma stabilisation and psychoeducation, with a focus on how to work with processing trauma material to assist individuals recovery and enhance their life quality. This will include learning a diverse range of emerging best practice and research-informed approaches. Students will be able to apply these skills in working with adults and/or young people who might present with trauma-related mental health issues or behavioural concerns.
