Course overview
The aim of this course is to demonstrate how different types and sources of data, information, and knowledge can be used to describe and improve health in populations. In this course, you will learn how health and non-health data are collected, organised, and summarised into information and knowledge that can be synthesised, communicated and disseminated to create intelligence for public health. By examining real-world case studies, you will learn how data and information can be interpreted and utilised to inform public health decision-making. This course enables you to critically appraise information and knowledge to form actionable insights for improving public health.

- Differentiate the concepts of data, information, intelligence, and knowledge, in the context of public health
- Explain the nature and role of different types of data, information and knowledge from different sources in public health and public health decision-making

- Consider and acknowledge ownership and governance of data when it is created, collected, accessed, analysed, interpreted, managed, disseminated and used for public health information and intelligence
