Course overview

This course aims to enable students the opportunity to further develop their practical knowledge and skills in either a real-world placement or a simulated placement. Students will learn skills in interviewing, assessment and evidence-based and informed practice. The emphasis is to prepare students for either a sixth-year internship or their ongoing studies in the Master of Psychology (Clinical), Master of Psychology (Health) or Master of Psychology (Organisational). Students will be supervised by registered psychologists who are Psychology Board of Australia Board-Approved Supervisors. 

Course learning outcomes

  • Implement empirically supported culturally responsive assessments and interventions
  • Monitor client progress and intervention outcomes and adjust interventions in response to client need
  • Practice in accordance with legislation and appropriate professional body codes of practice
  • Operate within professional scope of practice and in collaboration with other health disciplines
  • Engage in self-reflective professional practice
