Course overview

This course will enable students to become familiar with theories and methods of assessment in professional psychology for a diverse range of settings and clients. Students will develop competency in the selection, administration, scoring and interpretation of culturally responsive assessments including interviewing and standardised psychological testing, including child and adult intelligence tests, personality tests and tests of psychological, physical and organisational health. Students will learn how to integrate results and communicate assessment findings in a range of formats.

  • Conduct culturally responsive professional assessment interviews
  • Select and perform appropriate standardised psychological testing
  • Synthesise information from multiple sources to produce formal psychological reports
  • Select appropriate assessments and interpret outcomes across individuals, family and support networks, and organisational, cultural and community settings
