Course overview
This course will cover ethics, legal and professional matters pertaining to provisional and registered psychologists. Students will be introduced to the concept of evidence-based practice, and how the scientist-practitioner framework underpins professional psychology, including supervision and working with feedback. Reflective practice and cultural responsiveness will underscore the course as part of ongoing personal and professional development.
Course learning outcomes
- Generate sound ethical responses to common professional dilemmas using a systematic ethical decision-making process
- Apply relevant legislation and ethical principles related to psychological practice
- Ensure assessment and intervention plans are tailored to meet the needs of culturally diverse clients
- Apply reflective practice skills and engage in reflection to aid professional learning and development
