Course overview
The course aims to provide knowledge and skills in the use of psychological assessment instruments across different age groups, cultures and settings. Building upon interpersonal theory and skills already covered, the course introduces commonly used psychological assessments in clinical, health and organisational settings. Considerations around test selection, psychometric properties, implementation and interpretation of scores will be covered. This course aligns with the programs intent to provide basic psychological assessment strategies and knowledge of psychometric theory, preparing learners to understand the utility of assessments across settings in future workplaces.

Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of psychometric theory in a variety of settings
- Determine and integrate basic assessment strategies in situations appropriate to psychological practice
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of the implementation and interpretation of standardised psychological test instruments
- Integrate ethical and culturally responsive practices in the use of standardised psychological test instruments
- Critically reflect on principles of effective psychological measurement and assessment in the context of digital and emerging technologies
- Use appropriate interview skills to administer psychological assessment and write-up an assessment report
