Course overview
This course aims to assist learners to develop an advanced understanding of and apply theory and research to health concerns across the lifespan in the health of individuals, communities and organisations. Building on earlier learning in health and developmental psychology, the course explores the prevention and management of health issues through topics such as social determinants of health and the health of communities, coping with illness, the prevention, causes and evidence-based treatments of psychological disorders and the health of organisations considering the diversity of individuals and culturally appropriate approaches. By applying knowledge to health concerns and simulated cases, learners will develop a holistic understanding of health, critical thinking skills and the ability to communicate with diverse audiences.

Course learning outcomes
- Analyse, apply and communicate theory and research in a culturally sensitive and reflexive manner, to address health concerns across the lifespan in the health of individuals, communities, and organisations.
- Apply knowledge of the prevention, causes and evidence-based treatments for psychological disorders, considering a holistic and interprofessional approach to wellbeing, social determinants, and culture.
- Critically evaluate and apply theory and research related to the health of individuals, communities and organisations to simulated cases.
