To provide students with historical and theoretical insights into the debates on development and a thorough understanding of the increasing interplay of economics, politics, environment and culture in contemporary capitalism.
Course learning outcomes
- Develop skills to critically analyse the historical and theoretical issues related to the concepts of modernisation and international development
- Develop skills to critically examine the new paradigms offered by various economists, sociologists, ecologists and foreign policy analysts for analysing the conditions of sustainable development
- Develop skills to understand the institutional dimensions of development in the contemporary world
- Develop skills to write policy reports and prepare policy proposals on international development issues identifying and critically analysing major factors ranging from human agents to national capabilities

If you are an international student, or a domestic student studying in a full fee paying place, and are continuing study that you commenced in 2025 or earlier, your fees will be available here before enrolments open for 2026.
