Course overview

This course deploys a range of theoretical approaches to explore ethical questions in international relations through the analysis of case studies on topics such as war, terrorism, torture, humanitarian intervention, and historical memory. Students are expected to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the different theoretical approaches as well as apply their logic and insights to specific cases and scenarios. The course provides students with a rigorous ethical framework and the analytical tools necessary for addressing today's global challenges, preparing them to navigate ethical dilemmas and encouraging them to reflect on their values and the ethical implications of policy decisions.
