Course overview
The aim of this course is to advance the concepts of clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice and provide the foundation skills needed for routine clinical pharmacy practice and primary healthcare. Interpretation of medical case records and clinical laboratory tests; principles of Pharmaceutical Care; communication skills for; patient counselling, presentation and teaching skills; medication review principles.
Course learning outcomes
- Discuss the concepts of pharmaceutical care and clinical pharmacy practice.
- Apply the legal, professional and ethical framework of pharmacy practice.
- Apply modern pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles.
- Apply critical thinking and decision making skills in the management of minor ailments and medication related problems.
- Demonstrate extended communication skills.
