Course overview
The aim of this course is to develop the students' understanding of humans as occupational beings and the relationship between occupation, health and well-being. Dimensions and theories of human occupation and human evolution, human capacities, occupational language, occupational balance, occupational alienation, occupational deprivation, occupational identity, occupational adaptation, occupational justice and occupational transitions.
Course learning outcomes
- Analyse the implications of conceptualising humans as occupational beings.
- Justify, interpret and critique theoretical models of understanding occupation.
- Critically apply contemporary occupational science concepts to different bodies of knowledge and practice.
- Investigate, analyse and synthesise the contribution of engagement in occupations to health and well-being in specific cases.
- Justify and interpret the relationship between the discipline of occupational science and the profession of occupational therapy.
