Course overview

Provides clinician with the knowledge of the principles of infection control practice and of effective strategies to develop and maintain an infection prevention and control program within a health care setting. This course will examine common healthcare associated infections and explore principles such as colonisation, infection, transmission, and management through standard and transmission-based precautions. The course will also explore key activities such as decontamination and sterilisation of medical devices, the clinical management of the patient/client with an infectious disease or infection, patient and staff education, management of multi-resistant organism in the context of your organisation and antimicrobial stewardship.
