Course overview
To develop students as self-sufficient learners of mathematics and increase mathematical confidence while building confidence and a strong foundation in mathematical knowledge for future undergraduate study in a wide range of disciplines.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply mathematical knowledge of arithmetic, proportions and ratio, and linear equations to investigate, gain insights into, and solve problems
- Explore a variety of perspectives for tackling an unfamiliar problem.
- Select and apply a perspective that enables a particular problem to be solved.
- Reflect on and enhance their own mathematical development. including seeking support where needed.
- Communicate mathematical thinking in oral., written and/or visual modes.

If you are continuing in a program you commenced prior to 1 January 2021, or are commencing an Honours degree relating to an undergraduate degree you commenced prior to 1 January 2021, you may be charged a different Student Contribution amount from the amount displayed below. Please check the Student Contribution bands for continuing students here. If you are an international student, or a domestic student studying in a full fee paying place, and are continuing study that you commenced in 2025 or earlier, your fees will be available here before enrolments open for 2026.
