Course overview
The Real Estate Practice course aims to equip students with the knowledge essential for establishing and managing a real estate agency, and effectively marketing various real estate, including complex commercial and industrial properties. Key objectives include understanding real estate marketing, business management principles, and statutory and ethical requirements for roles like Agent, Property Manager, and Sales Representative. The course builds upon foundational knowledge from prior property studies, fostering critical thinking and independent argumentation. While focusing on South Australian legislation, it also explores universal principles applicable across real estate agencies globally, providing a comprehensive understanding of the industry.
Course learning outcomes
- Evaluate the market for real estate services and demonstrate an understanding of the requirements for setting up a real estate agency
- Formulate marketing plans and apply the results of market analysis to the successful marketing of non-residential properties
- Demonstrate and apply an understanding of the main obligations of the Land Agent under the South Australian Land Agents Act 1994 and its Regulations, or the appropriate legislation in the State or Country in which the student intends to practice
- Select appropriate ethical responses to situational dilemmas, including the representational dilemma
- Discuss, analyse and apply management and organisational behaviour theory to the management of the real estate office and sales force
