Course overview
The course examines the role of international law in addressing global legal environmental problems like climate change, loss of biodiversity, and plastic pollution. topics include: Sources of international environmental law; Key institutions; General rights and obligations of states; Role of Civil Society; Intersections with human rights law and international trade law; Compliance and enforcement.
Course learning outcomes
- Utilise the vocabulary, concepts, and institutions of international law.
- Examine international law in relation to Australian domestic law.
- Discuss key issues and concepts relating to the legal protection of the environment in international law.
