Course overview
The aim of this course is to promote understanding of the scope, rationale and application of intellectual property law in Australia and internationally. The course critically examines the legal, social and economic arguments underpinning the legal framework for the protection of intellectual property and considers whether the law as applied by practitioners in the field is meeting its policy objectives. Content includes: the scope and rationale of intellectual property law; Copyright and further rights of authors; The registered design system; Trademarks, passing off and related actions; Patents; Trade secrets and confidential information; International law governing the protection of intellectual property.
