Course overview
The course introduces students to cutting edge research topics in the field of law and religion. The academic research of members and collaborators of the Research Unit for the Study of Society Law and Religion (RUSSLR) within the Adelaide Law School and beyond represents a diverse range of scholarship covering a wide spectrum of ideas related to the intersection of society, law and religion. Students will be given an opportunity to participate in a series of guest lectures delivered by members and collaborators of RUSSLR as well as external experts on topical issues about law and religion. Through this course, students will be part of the intellectual life of RUSSLR and be acquainted with the current scholars of law and religion. The course coordinator will highlight to students the various linkages and synergies within the series of lectures. Students in this course will receive guidance on how to select a research topic in law and religion, where to source for primary and secondary materials, how to construct an interdisciplinary argument and how to write a paper that appeals to both lawyers and non-lawyers.
