Course overview
The aim of this course is to provide students with a foundational understanding of effective leadership, including wellbeing, and the development of a professional identity in the context of lawyering. In this course, students will explore the interaction between the skills and competencies that contribute to success when studying law. This course will support students in forming the foundations of positive professional identities, as well as developing knowledge, skills and attributes to successfully navigate the study of law. Students will also learn about the professional leadership of legal practitioners in the community.
This course will also develop students' skills in reflection, oral communication, and positive self-management.
Course learning outcomes
- Identify principles and importance of professional leadership within the context of law
- Describe legal professional responsibility as leaders in a profession
- Reflect on the importance of wellbeing and self-care in the context of studying law and the profession of law
- Explain ethical judgment and decision making, and the impact on individuals and community
