Course overview
This course will develop students' proficiency in spoken and written Japanese at an advanced level. Students will develop advanced vocabulary, structures and texts related to a range of advanced themes developing accuracy, complexity and fluency. Students will integrate strategies for effective spoken and written communication by using intercultural knowledge essential to a range of situations and tasks, such as a focus on interculturality Japanese culture and society.
Course learning outcomes
- speak and write in Japanese with increasing accuracy, complexity and fluency appropriate to advanced contexts
- apply a sound knowledge of grammatical and sociolinguistic concepts relating to topics and uses of Japanese in complex situations
- display linguistic and cultural sensitivity in more demanding formal and informal interactions in Japanese
- critically reflect on the intercultural aspects of Japanese language and culture
