Course overview

This course will extend social, cultural and linguistic knowledge of Asia at an intermediate level by expanding students' understanding of communication in its cultural context and deepening their sociocultural awareness and intercultural understanding in Asian communities. Students will engage in language study and participate in intercultural opportunities for communication and intellectual exchange. The course requires students to undertake a negotiated program within a host institution in-country and actively investigate contemporary and historic themes and topics that extend their understanding of language, culture and society and deepen their intercultural understanding of Asian societies.

Course learning outcomes
