Course overview
This course will develop students' proficiency in basic spoken and written French and strengthen their intercultural understanding. Students will build on the introductory French pronunciation, vocabulary and grammatical concepts and structures required in the use of French in everyday situations. Students will further develop grammatical concepts and structures related to the uses in French; aspects of Francophone culture as covered in a range of contexts and text-types; a folio on interaction between Francophone culture and the student's own.
Course learning outcomes
- communicate in French with a degree of fluency appropriate to level of linguistic development
- apply grammatical and sociolinguistic concepts in an increased range of French language and culture contexts
- interpret and respond to a range of text types in French
- recognise aspects of contemporary Francophone culture and society covered in the course
- develop basic intercultural competence as reflected in course resources and activities
