Course overview
The aim of this course is to equip interior designers with the advanced professional skills and critical understanding necessary to create inclusive and accessible environments. Building upon foundational knowledge in design, this studio course will challenge students to apply innovative design principles and techniques to develop spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also cater to the diverse needs of all users demanded by the profession.
Course learning outcomes
- apply advanced inclusive design principles to create interior spaces that are accessible, functional, and welcoming for individuals of all genders, First Nations, and those with disabilities
- Design based on a deep understanding of cultural contexts and human behaviours, enabling them to design with empathy and ethical consideration
- acquire the skills to incorporate sustainable design strategies and materials that support inclusion while balancing aesthetics
- master effective communication strategies and understand the professional standards and regulations related to inclusive design

If you are continuing in a program you commenced prior to 1 January 2021, or are commencing an Honours degree relating to an undergraduate degree you commenced prior to 1 January 2021, you may be charged a different Student Contribution amount from the amount displayed below. If you are an international student, or a domestic student studying in a full fee paying place, and are continuing study that you commenced in 2025 or earlier, your fees will be available here before enrolments open for 2026.
