Course overview
The aim of this course is o introduce students to the design of small to medium-scale interior spaces through exploration of spatial and material concepts, graphic communication, and speculative exploration using both analogue and digital design tools. It offers opportunities for students to investigate design methodology as a research practice, introducing methodologies for generating interior architectural propositions. Students will develop knowledge and skills in creative and representational practice, applying them to interior design project(s) of increasing complexity.
Course learning outcomes
- Achieve an understanding of communication, representation, and speculative design methodologies within interior architecture
- Develop verbal and graphic communication abilities, along with proficiency in analogue and digital representation techniques, while honing critical thinking skills to address interior architecture challenges
- Apply acquired knowledge and skills to effectively communicate interior architecture concepts through various mediums, using creativity and critical thinking to navigate complex design problems
- Integrate methodologies into reflective practices for multi-disciplinary and inter-cultural interior architecture projects, showing adaptability to technological advancements and societal shifts
- Demonstrate innovative problem-solving skills in interior architecture by leveraging spatial awareness, cultural sensitivity, and analytical abilities developed through iterative production and reflection
