Course overview
This course aims to equip students with knowledge and skills to analyse the human aspects of cyber security. Building upon introductory cyber security concepts, the course covers topics such as identity management, social engineering, organisational and societal behaviours. By investigating the human factors of cyber risk, students will develop problem-solving skills essential for identifying key strategies to address the human factors that underlie cyber risk; mitigating cyber risk through people solutions; building a cyber awareness campaign.

Course learning outcomes
- Apply psychological and behavioural theories to assess human factors in cyber security.
- Evaluate different models from crime theory to assess the impact of corporate, social and ethical responsibilities.
- Apply critical, cultural and ethical considerations of human factors to design effective policies that mitigate human-centric cyber threats.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency behaviour modification strategies in cyber security governance using ethical frameworks.
- Devise a tailored cybersecurity awareness program to strengthen organisational cyber hygiene practices and reduce human-related cyber risks.
- Communicate a cyber security awareness program in a professional manner to relevant stakeholders.
