Course overview
The aim of this course is to provide students with a conceptual foundation and context of information technologies, Internet, World Wide Web, and digital publishing as used in information-intensive professions.
Course learning outcomes
- Examine and describe how information technology, telecommunications and the World Wide Web operate within libraries, archives, Records Management., and the information profession.
- Contrast and compare the different approaches to information management and control, across libraries, archives, museums, and Records Management.
- Evaluate the scope and efficacy of current enterprise and management systems within the information industry.
- Analyse and develop a technology plan.
- Assess and evaluate library technologies.
- Assess websites, web 2.0, web 3.0 and social media in the information industry.
