Course overview
The aim of this course is to give students the skills to analyse and critically evaluate the complex challenges and the key principles and strategies to safeguard non-digital collection assets throughout their lifecycle, across different formats. Challenges and risks to non-digital collections' continuity throughout their lifecycle of different formats and the complexities of developing a preservation program. Application of preservation principles to the management of non-digital collection assets. Application and evaluation of preservation strategies including, tools and technologies such as preservation systems standards and frameworks. Management and resourcing considerations for non-digital preservation programs that require interrelated and interdependent parts, including environmental sustainability, legal, ethical and cultural issues, interoperability with risk management and information systems, as well as interconnecting with digital preservation programs in order to effectively safeguard non-digital collection assets.

- Synthesise and apply preservation principles and strategies in an industry context to identify key risks and make appropriate recommendations to develop preservation plans and strategies for non-digital collections.
