Course overview
This course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to perform independent research through a systematic approach using the scientific method, covering all areas of research such as literature reviews, methodologies, experimental design, analysis and ethics. Students will delve into research methodologies, ethics and related topics to support them in performing independent research.
Course learning outcomes
- Evaluate complex information and ideas to propose and design a comprehensive research proposal, incorporating appropriate methodologies and theoretical frameworks relevant to computer science
- Analyse quantitative and qualitative data using relevant tools
- Communicate complex information and concepts to broad audiences by presenting research and research findings through written reports, presentations, and publications, adhering to academic standards
- Apply ethical and cultural frameworks, principles and practices in conducting and reporting research, ensuring integrity and compliance with professional standards
- Describe current research-based knowledge and technical and/or creative skills in computer science
- Apply research methods, techniques and tools applicable to computer science research
