Course overview
This course will provide a critical overview of the range of systems methodologies that are available to support the analysis and design of information systems, and to equip students with the conceptual understanding required to critically select and use analysis and design methodologies. The business context for information system. Development life-cycle models. Systems analysis methodologies. Data modelling. System design methods. Modelling notations, including UML.
Course learning outcomes
- To describe the fundamental principles and methodologies for the analysis and design of typical business information systems.
- To capture stakeholder needs and transform these into a suitable set of system requirements.
- To transform requirements into a systems design.
- To communicate the requirements and various design artefacts through appropriate documentation to the stakeholders.
