Course overview

In this course, students will develop and extend specialised knowledge and skills in health informatics, clinical information and digital health. This course covers differences in Information Technology and/or Information Services deployment in health, health/clinical use of artificial intelligence, IT support for continuity of care, IT aspects of personalised care, and registries in health. The course has two main components. The first component addresses specific issues of deploying IT in health through a series of themes. The second component is a mini-project to evaluate a specific topic in-depth and the creation of possible solutions.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply advanced informatics (IT/IS/ITM) into health delivery, health management, and health-related research.
  • Develop skills to combine several perspectives including socio-technical, socio-economic and ethical-legal perspectives in health informatics/digital health.
  • Compare and discuss different approaches to informatics in health nationally and internationally.
  • Develop and defend the analysis and/or solutions elaborated in the mini-project.
