Course overview

This course will provide the fundamental principles of cyber security. In this course, students will gain advanced skills and knowledge in the following: Core security principles including confidentiality, integrity and availability (CIA); The contemporary cybersecurity threat landscape; End-to-end security implementation for a corporate network; Principles of symmetric and asymmetric cryptography; Roles and responsibilities of a cybersecurity professional.

Course learning outcomes

  • Explain a range of contemporary cybersecurity threats from a technical perspective.
  • Evaluate and communicate the potential impact of cybersecurity threats within an organisational context.
  • Apply ethical considerations to the role of a cybersecurity professional in a variety of contexts.
  • Apply established theories to the discipline of cybersecurity and its professional practice.
