Course overview

To develop knowledge and skills to describe, measure, analyse and communicate the mechanical principles underlying human movement in the context of exercise, sport and health.

  • Introduction and Linear Biomechanics
  • Angular Biomechanics
  • Humans, Equipment and the Environment

Course learning outcomes

  • Describe biomechanical principles and apply them to the analysis of human movement in exercise and sport
  • Analyse biomechanical problems in human movement, exercise and sport science contexts and develop strategies that enhance function and performance, and minimise injury risk for different populations
  • Conduct quantitative analyses of human movement using appropriate tools and techniques in exercise and sport science contexts
  • Interpret and effectively communicate biomechanical data to clients and exercise and sport science professionals
