Course overview
The aim of this course is to enable students to undertake performance and compensation management that establishes goals by; analysing different approaches to performance appraisal and development and; incorporating contemporary theory and practice of compensation of tangible and intangible rewards within an international context in order to achieve organisational performance outcomes. Content and process theories of motivation; principles and practices of performance management; performance appraisal; 360 degree feedback; coaching, mentoring and improving performance; bases of pay; compensation structures; benefits and design global compensation.
Course learning outcomes
- Develop a clear understanding of performance and compensation management practices in organisations and their role in the context of organisational and HR strategy in the global business environment.
- Critically examine the relationship between employee behaviour and different types of performance and rewards systems.
- Critically evaluate an existing performance and compensation management system in an organisation and formulate recommendations designed to improve employee and organisational performance.
- Demonstrate Business Enterprise Skills in the context of the Human Resource Management discipline: Problem Solving (advanced level).
