Course overview
This course develops students’ advanced knowledge of the role of analytics in the context of HRM through the application of analytics-based tools to address complex HR issues, including ethical and legal implications. People Analytics approaches are increasingly important in today’s business context. In this course, students discuss key HR questions, apply analytics-based tools to analyse and evaluate information, and create reports. This course also delves into debates around the ethical issues associated with the use and misuse of analytics and employee data and devises a strategy for applying People Analytics in the organisation. Students are assessed through case study and data analysis.

Course learning outcomes
- Interpret and apply statistics to analyse data and inform Human Resource decisions
- Apply statistical analysis techniques, such as correlation and regression analysis, to evaluate data and develop solutions for common Human Resource challenges such as diversity management, employee turnover, and job performance by utilising the statistical outcomes and relevant Human Resource theories and concepts
- Create data visualisations using statistical software and communicate findings suitable for reports to stakeholders
- Critically evaluate and assess complex ethical issues associated with people analytics to produce strategic recommendations
