Course overview

in this course, students understand and utilise a conceptual framework to examine the role of festivals and events in contemporary society. Development and trends in festivals and events; contexts and perspectives on events; event experience and meanings; event design; understanding attendee behaviour; impacts of events and management and promotion of events.

Course learning outcomes

  • Critically and creatively assess the designing of festival/event concepts.
  • Critically analyse and reflect on theories of behaviour associated with festivals and events.
  • Examine and interpret the impacts of festivals and events.
  • Investigate and analyse the relationship between festivals and events and identify formation.
  • Critically analyse professional practice of festivals and events management.
  • Demonstrate Business Enterprise Skills: i) Self Management (advanced level); ii) Problem Solving (advanced level); iii) Ethical Awareness (intermediate level); iv) Written Communication (advanced level); and v) International Perspective (intermediate level).
