Course overview

This course will develop students' advanced understanding of reliable and valid measures of behaviour and psychological characteristics and the limitations of psychological assessment. This course provides students with advanced understanding of psychological assessment. Students will develop their knowledge of appropriate assessments and interpretation of test scores (including reliability and validity). Additionally, students will develop awareness of professional and ethical issues associated with test administration and applications of assessment in different contexts (including cross-cultural and diverse populations). Students will develop communication and interview skills in the administration of psychological assessment, interpretation of test results and writing of a psychological report.

  • Apply knowledge of the principles of psychological and behavioural assessment
  • Use appropriate interpersonal communication and interview skills to administer psychological assessment
  • Develop knowledge of testing procedures and conduct a psychological assessment
  • Write a psychological assessment report and interpret tests scores
