Course overview
This course aims to provide students with key concepts and a deep understanding of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) and their use in the treatment of human infertility. Students will investigate topics including human reproduction, infertility management and ART protocols including ovarian stimulation, in vitro fertilisation (IVF), embryo culture, cryopreservation, and preimplantation genetic analysis. In addition to gaining specialised knowledge in reproductive biology and medicine, students will explore the ethical, legal, and regulatory aspects of ART, and critically evaluate their efficacy and safety. Workshops will provide opportunities to explore scientific innovations in the field of ARTs, as well the social implications. Building upon foundational knowledge of reproduction and development, the course will impart essential knowledge of the ART industry and the ability to evaluate emerging technologies and ethical issues in reproductive medicine, in preparation for post-graduate study or employment in biomedicine.
