Course overview

In this course, anatomical principles and terminology will be applied to the detailed study of the anatomy of the lower limb, upper limb and hand. The concept of integrated function of multiple body systems will be developed in each region and relevant medical imaging techniques and clinical assessment skills will be incorporated. The course is taught in a blended mode.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply anatomical principles to describe normal structure and function of body systems within the lower limb and explain its role in support, locomotion and posture.
  • Apply anatomical principles to describe normal structure and function of body systems in the upper limb and explain its role in grasp.
  • Describe anatomical structures using appropriate terminology in relation to cadaveric material, the living body or medical imaging in a laboratory environment.
  • Explain the relationship of anatomical structures to function.
