Course overview
The aim of this course is to introduce students to the gross anatomical structures and physiological processes of the human body, and the ways in which bodily systems integrate with each other. Students will develop an understanding of the normal function of the endocrine, reproductive, renal, gastrointestinal and immune systems and their limitations. Through experiential activities, students will also develop their skills in communication and team work as well as data analysis and critical thinking. This course aligns with health and biomedical programs intent to provide foundational understanding of anatomical and physiological concepts.

Course learning outcomes
- Identify and describe the basic anatomical and physiological features of major organ systems within the human body using specific anatomical and physiological language
- Understand the basic biological processes of physiological systems essential for maintaining homeostasis and their limitations
- Apply knowledge to clinical scenarios and current health topics independently and collaboratively
- Develop research skills including critical analysis, interpretation, synthesis and communication of scientific information
- Respectfully contribute to a learning environment and develop skills necessary for ongoing independent learning
