Course overview

This advanced UX design course aims to elevate students' proficiency within interactive digital environments, both online and offline. Building upon foundational principles and concepts of user experience (UX) and accessibility, the course seeks to cultivate students' abilities to design compelling, user-centric experiences that resonate with diverse audiences. Through a blend of theoretical exploration, hands-on projects, and critical analysis, students will develop the expertise to create impactful digital solutions that seamlessly merge graphic design aesthetics with functional UX considerations, thereby advancing their capabilities as versatile and empathetic designers in the dynamic landscape of digital design.

Course learning outcomes

  • Develop and apply advanced principles of interaction design, including cognitive load management, error prevention, and progressive disclosure, to create intuitive and efficient user interfaces
  • Utilise advanced user research methodologies to gather deep insights into user behaviours, needs, and pain points, informing the design process and enhancing user-centric designs
  • Create and manage robust interaction frameworks, including effective information architecture, navigation systems, and design systems, to ensure cohesive and scalable user experiences
  • Employ high-fidelity prototyping and advanced usability testing methodologies to iteratively evaluate and refine design solutions for maximum usability and engagement
  • Integrate advanced accessibility and inclusive design techniques to create interactions that accommodate diverse user needs and comply with accessibility standards
  • Analyse and incorporate ethical considerations, including privacy and data security, into design practices, while exploring and evaluating the impact of emerging trends and technologies on interaction design
