Course overview

This course aims to consolidate, apply and develop students’ graphic communication design knowledge and skills. Responding to industry standard project briefs of increasing complexity, students extend their existing knowledge of creative research, visual iteration processes and application of digital and analogue skills to create original, multimodal design propositions. Through iterative research and practice, learners will work individually and in teams, to create graphic communication design responses appropriate for a range of audiences. This course aligns with the program's intent to develop creative, critical and ethical graphic communication design expertise, preparing learners for professional practice settings.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply creative experimentation and critical thinking to iterative design processes, for effective development of diverse multimodal graphic communication design tasks
  • Synthesise information from a range of sources to research, generate and evaluate the suitability of design propositions relative to context
  • Apply advanced and ethical use of skills in typography, graphic and image design to develop original, audience appropriate graphic communication approaches in professional contexts
  • Choose and apply appropriate written, verbal and visual communication skills for a range of real-world contexts
